Information on period clothes.
Please take a look in the gallery for the appropriate section for tips on period clothing.
There are a few things which people tend to assume about Victorian & Western clothing:
Victorian.
Zips were invented by Victorian times. They were steel. not plastic or brass.See Here.
Button fasterners are preferable to zip fasterners, they can be made from plastic, as bone buttons were polished & look just like plastic buttons..
Western.
Denim Jeans were about in Victorian times, (look at This), but as you can see, they were usually worn by workers.
As we are an authentic team, we do appreciate guests in authentic clothing. Please no `Line Dancing’ Regalia.
Some Clothing assistance may be given to guests at events, dependant on notice & clothing availability.
Firearms.
All the firearms used in our western shows are BLANK firing guns, side blasting or `Trinity’ models. None of the pistols are of the Brocock variety. Note , the trinity type are baffled both ends to ensure NO live firing bullet can be loaded & used with these replica weapons. If you own a Brocock gun & wish to participate, we would insist that it is left at home.
LDV.
The LDV stands for Local Defence Volunteer. This was the forerunner of the Home Guard, as depicted in the popular BBC television series Dad’s Army. Click on the title or at the BBC site for more information
